I love the modular building line from Lego. There is something about them that just takes me back to those long gone days of worry free play time. For me I came back to Lego a few years ago, living through my son obsession with the bricks. However it didn’t take long before I started buying sets for myself and then staring to collect and mine bricks for my own MOC’s and desires. At this point we have collected all the available Modular building, we were to late to jump on the latest retirement round (I’m looking at you Fire Brigade).
My very first modular was the Detective’s Office and what a wonderful set it is. Anyone toying (HA) with the idea of purchasing a modular I would recommend that you start here. It is a fabulous set with many great elements.
The next modular I picked up was the Parisian Restaurant, I wanted the set for a while and sat on the decision to purchase it for months and months. I’m very happy I decided to finally pull the trigger on this one.
Next up was a Xmas gift for my son. The Pet Shop is a great set of Two 16 x 32 Modulars. I also wan’t to purchase another one of these sets just to mine these colors for future builds.
After christmas 2015 I knew what my next purchase as going to be, as a lot of AFOL probably did as well. The Brick Bank. It is just beautiful, from it’s chandler to the laundry mat, I just love this set.
That just left one set on the open market that we did not have, and we couldn’t have that now could we. The Palace Cinema. Again this was a super fun set with tons of great detail work.
I have to admit though that after finished this build there were no more available modular sets to purchase. I could of course look into the other wonderful sets from The Simpsons Quick E Mart to the Ghostbusters Firehouse Headquarters. Those are great but pricey sets. Now don’t get me wrong all of these are pricey sets. I’m in a comfortable point in my life were this little obsession of mine does not hard to my family or budget, but I still release this is not a cheap hobby buy any stand point. So with nothing left to buy this year (Lego usually releases a new Modular in Jan of each year) I have looked in ward to my own MOC’s and that process has been both frustrating and Joyful. I hope to be able to share some of my MOC’s here soon, as it was the entire point of my BLOG.
